BREAST RECONSTRUCTION SURGERY |

Reconstruction of the thorax and mammary glands in postoperative
patients of a mastectomy due to cancer or traumatism, can be performed
by using implants of expansive type or by utilizing tissue of the same
patient such as skin, fat and muscle of the inferior abdomen, combined
with an abdominoplasty (TRAM), or with skin, fat and muscle from the
back or the thighs. At times, it may be necessary to use an implant
besides the tissues of the same patient. This surgery is performed in
2 or 3 stages.
